PM’s foreign affairs adviser meets Brazilian President’s diplomatic adviser

Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir paid a courtesy call on Celso Amorim, the chief foreign affairs adviser to the President of Brazil.
The meeting was held at the Brazilian Presidential Palace on Friday, May 15.
During the meeting, the two sides held fruitful discussions on various issues of mutual interest. Both parties stressed the importance of further strengthening and diversifying the existing friendly relations between Bangladesh and Brazil.
The two sides also agreed to hold monthly adviser-level meetings aimed at enhancing regular diplomatic communication and bilateral cooperation. It was hoped that such engagements would create new opportunities for expanding cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, energy, education, technology and international affairs.
The discussions also focused in detail on prospects and effective initiatives for expanding the existing bilateral trade between Bangladesh and Brazil, currently valued at nearly $4 billion.
Both sides underscored the importance of undertaking joint initiatives to boost trade and economic cooperation.
At the end of the meeting, the two parties reaffirmed their commitment to working together to elevate Bangladesh-Brazil relations to a new height.
