Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized smuggled goods worth approximately Taka 1.43 crore by conducting raids in various border areas in Sylhet and Sunamganj.

The operation was carried out this morning by patrol teams in the border areas, including Tamabil, Sangram, Damdammia and Sonalichhela Border Outposts (BOPs), under the Sylhet-based BGB-48 Battalion.

According to BGB, the confiscated items included a large quantity of Indian products like skin brightening creams, Oris brand cigarettes, Sonpapri, biscuits, chocolates, and several cows. In addition, a locally used Bangladeshi barki boat – employed for illegal stone extraction – was also seized.

Commanding Officer of Sylhet BGB-48 Battalion Lieutenant Colonel Nazmul Haque confirmed the matter and said as per the directives of the BGB headquarters, BGB continues its intensive patrol and intelligence operations to ensure security in the borders and prevent smuggling activities.

“In continuation of this, a large amount of smuggled goods was seized by conducting raids in the border areas,” he said, adding, necessary action will be taken as per the rules regarding the seized smuggled goods.
