Fugitive death-row convict held in Sylhet

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-19) arrested a fugitive death-row convict from Gowainghat upazila of Sylhet district on Sunday.
The arrested is Fazal Miah, son of late Ashab Ali of Adityapur village under Nabiganj upazila in Habiganj district.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB officials conducted a drive at Purba Jaflong area in the upazila and arrested Fazal.
A RAB official confirmed the incident and said that the arrested was handed over to Nabiganj Police Station for further legal action.
Earlier on 29 October, 2005, Fazal hacked his mother to death over a trifling matter and fled the scene.
Following the incident, his brother Abdur Rashid filed a murder case with Nabiganj Police Station.
After completing trial proceedings, a Habiganj court sentenced Fazal Miah to death penalty.
