Satellite-based broadcasting operations in Bangladesh may be disrupted from September 29 due to a solar interference, informed Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited (BSCL) on Wednesday.
The BSCL said that solar interference was a normal astronomical event affecting geo-stationary satellites, occurring twice a year. It occurs when the sun lines up directly behind a satellite and overwhelms the signal with its strong radiation. It effects can range from signal degradation to a complete outage for satellite-dependent broadcasting.
Broadcasting operations may be disrupted for some time each day from September 29 to October 6.
