A group of students of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) have been staging demonstration on the Central Shaheed Minar premises since Monday morning demanding cancellation of quota in medical entry test.
They started the protest as the result of medical admission test was published on Sunday keeping the quota system.
Around 10AM, the students started gathering near Shaheed Minar and took position there, chanting different slogans.
The agitators said that they would go for a mass demonstration countrywide. They said to cancel the result within today.
Some medical teachers and doctors expressed their solidarity with the protesters.
Earlier, the anti-discrimination student movement demanded to republish the medical admission test result under 2024-25 academic sessions. They made the demand as the result was published keeping quota for students.
Around 250 admission seekers qualified in the medical entry test securing only 41 to 46 marks out of 100 marks which was completely discrimination for the general students, the press release said
Many qualified students, in this respect, were not getting chance to enrol themselves in the universities despite securing good marks.
