Vegetable prices shot up by Tk 10 to 20 per kg in Dhaka

Vegetable prices remain high in the capital’s markets, despite sufficient supply. The prices of all types of vegetables have increased by Tk 10 to 20 per kg.

Meanwhile, prices of chicken and eggs have declined slightly.

But, the prices of potatoes and onions remain stable in the markets.

While visiting Shantinagar, Malibagh, Shewrapara and Mirpur:2, it was found that though the supply of summer vegetables is sufficient, the prices of all types of vegetables have increased by 10 to 20 taka per kg in a week. Brinjal is being sold at 60 to 80 taka, bitter gourd at 70 to 80 taka, barbati at 80 taka, patal at 50 to 60 taka, dhundal at 50 taka, chichinga at 60 taka, kachur lati at 70 to 80 taka and kachur mukhi at 80 taka per kg, depending on the variety.

Raju Ahmed, a vegetable seller at Malibagh market, said, “The season of several vegetables is almost over now. The prices of those vegetables have increased.”
