A Satkhira court on Tuesday sent former Member of Parliament from a reserved women’s seat, Laila Parvin Sejuti, to jail in connection with a case filed over subversive activities.
She was produced before Satkhira Chief Judicial Magistrate Court, which ordered her detention.
Shaminul Haque, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said Sejuti was arrested from her residence early Tuesday. She currently serves as the Education and Human Resource Affairs secretary of Awami League’s Satkhira unit.
The case was filed with Sadar Police Station following the July uprising, with police formally accusing Sejuti on February 18, 2025.
