Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed has hinted that Government employees are likely to receive a dearness allowance. But it is not yet sure what percentage they will receive.

“A committee has been assigned which will determine when and how much we can provide.”

He disclosed these on Tuesday while responding to reporters’ queries after a meeting of the Advisory Committee on Government Purchase at the Secretariat.

The finance adviser “Dearness allowance will be announced in the new fiscal year, but it will take time. We need to work out when and how much we can provide.”

When asking about the possible amount, Salehuddin Ahmed stated, “I can’t say that now. If I do, then everything will be revealed.”

It is heard about the possibility of a 10-15 per cent allowance, he said, “I’m working it out. Once it is finalised, it will go to the Cabinet and be approved by the Chief Adviser. You’ll know then.”
