Lightning strikes kill 3 in Habiganj

Habiganj Correspondent : Three persons were killed and two others wounded as thunderbolts struck them in three upazilas-Nabiganj, Chunarughat and Madhabpur- of the district on Friday (May 24).
The victims were identified as Sima Uraw, 18, daughter of Pradeep Uraw, from Mango orchid of Chunarughat, Sizil Miah, 45, son of late Abdul Jalil, from Nabiganj and Faisal Miah, son of Jitu Miah, from Bulla village under Madhabpur.
According to police and upazila administration sources, Sizil Miah was killed while fishing in a haor. Sima Uraw was struck by a flash of lightning while she was on the way back home from paddy field.
Faisal Miah died on the spot and two of his companions got injured when they were cutting paddy.
Fazlul Zahid Pavel, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Habiganj said, “All information of the deceased has been gathered. Each family of the deceased will be given Taka 20,000 as government aid,” .
