Shops, markets to close at 8pm from today

Shops, shopping malls and markets across Bangladesh will close at 8pm from Friday, October 23, as the extended opening hours allowed for Durga Puja have ended.
The government had permitted commercial establishments to remain open until 10pm through October 22 to facilitate shopping during the festival. The regular schedule of 11am to 8pm has now resumed, reducing opening hours by two hours.
The Power Division had announced the temporary extension on October 5 as part of arrangements for Durga Puja.
The government has revised shop and market opening hours several times this year to conserve electricity and improve power management.
