All Q-Cash services have been fully restored at around 30 banks after remaining suspended for two days, the Q-Cash operator IT Consultants PLC (ITC) and several participating commercial banks confirmed on Tuesday night.
In a notice posted on social media, ITC said all services under the Q-Cash network were now operating normally, allowing customers to resume transactions as usual.
Bank Asia also confirmed around 12:30am that its ATM, card, point-of-sale (POS), National Payment Switch Bangladesh (NPSB), e-commerce and QR services had been fully restored. The bank advised customers to resume transactions normally.
The disruption began after 9PM on Sunday, October 4, when a system migration within the Q-Cash network caused various card and transaction services at around 30 banks to go offline temporarily.
The outage affected ATM withdrawals, POS transactions, card services and some interbank transactions.
At the time, several banks informed customers through text messages that the affected services were expected to return to normal after 12 noon on October 10.
However, Bangladesh Bank and commercial banks subsequently directed Q-Cash to restore the services as quickly as possible.
As part of the effort, Bangladesh Bank summoned the managing director of Q-Cash operator IT Consultants PLC on Tuesday for discussions on restoring the disrupted services.
The services were restored several days ahead of the initially communicated timeline.
