UK envoy meets PM, discusses bilateral ties

British High Commissioner Sarah Cook met Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Sunday (October 4), discussing ways to strengthen bilateral ties between Bangladesh and the UK.
The courtesy meeting was held at the Prime Minister’s Office in the Cabinet Division at the Secretariat.
The two sides discussed the overall state of Bangladesh-UK relations and various issues of mutual interest.
They emphasised strengthening the longstanding and friendly ties between the two countries and expanding cooperation in trade and investment, economic cooperation, education, skills development, migration and human resource development.
They also discussed continued UK support for Bangladesh’s economic development and prospects for expanding bilateral trade and investment.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir and relevant officials were present at the meeting.
