Five die with measles symptoms, 1,170 new cases reported

Five people died with measles symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours, while 1,170 new suspected and confirmed cases were reported during the period.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said this in a press release issued by its control room on Friday.
According to the release, 1,170 people were identified with measles symptoms in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of people with measles symptoms reported between 15 March and 28 August to 154,792.
Seventy confirmed measles cases were reported in the past 24 hours, while the total number of confirmed cases since 15 March stood at 18,796.
A total of 135,473 people with measles symptoms were admitted to hospitals between 15 March and 28 August, while 130,457 patients recovered and were discharged during the period.
Five people died with measles symptoms in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths among children with measles symptoms since 15 March to 861.
No one died of confirmed measles in the past 24 hours. However, 99 people have died from confirmed measles since 15 March.
