Newly appointed Information and Broadcasting Minister Andaleeve Rahman Partha said the ministry’s duty is to focus on regulating rules and responsibilities, without taking controlling stance.
Such remarks were made during an exchange of views with the officials and employees of the ministry at the Secretariat on Sunday (August 23).
“We must never forget that we will regulate the responsibilities of this ministry rather than controlling it,” Minister said.
He expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for the opportunity to serve in the position.
“Reaching the government’s developmental and positive activities to the public with honesty and credibility remains our major responsibility,” Partha said. He added that the ministry must work to positively impact matters of national pride, including the War of Liberation.
Noting that the government is under the leadership of PM Tarique Rahman during a challenging period in the nation’s history, Partha added, “We are giving 100 per cent effort. Mistakes may happen as we are all human, but we are very strong on morality.”
He also emphasized that the role of the media during the July movement should not be understated.
The Information Minister arrived at the Secretariat at 8:20 AM on his first workday, where officials welcomed him with flowers before the formal meeting at 9:30 AM.
Prime Minister’s Information Adviser Dr Zahed Ur Rahman, State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yasser Khan Chowdhury, and Secretary Mahbuba Farzana were present, among other officials.
