No student has passed this year’s SSC and equivalent examinations at 312 educational institutions across Bangladesh, according to the results published on Monday.
Of the institutions recording a zero pass rate, 57 are under the country’s nine general education boards, 226 are under the Madrasah Education Board and 29 are under the Technical Education Board.
In addition, one examination centre abroad recorded no successful candidates.
The results were formally unveiled at 10am on Monday at the conference room of the Ministry of Education. Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon officially inaugurated the results publication ceremony.
At the event, chairmen of all the country’s education boards handed over the examination results to the education minister.
18.57 lakh candidates sat SSC and equivalent exams
A total of 1,857,344 students filled in forms to sit this year’s SSC and equivalent examinations.
Of them, 1,418,398 candidates registered for the SSC examinations under the nine general education boards.
Another 304,286 students appeared for the Dakhil examinations under the Madrasah Education Board, while 134,660 candidates registered for the SSC (Vocational) examinations under the Technical Education Board.
The zero-pass rate recorded by hundreds of institutions is expected to draw attention to disparities in educational performance and raise questions about the quality of teaching and academic support at those institutions.
