Former law minister Shafique Ahmed passes away

Former law minister Barrister Shafique Ahmed passed away at a hospital in Dhaka on Sunday. He was 89.
Shafique breathed his last around 5:30pm while undergoing treatment at Bangladesh Medical College Hospital, Supreme Court senior lawyer ABM Altaf Hossain told the media.
He was admitted to the hospital on Saturday, Altaf added.
The former minister is survived by two sons and a daughter.
Shafique Ahmed served as law minister from January 2009 to mid-January 2014 during the Awami League government. He was a technocrat minister.
He also served as president of the Supreme Court Bar Association and vice-chairman of the Bangladesh Bar Council.
