Ex-speaker Shirin Sharmin released on bail

Former speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury has been released from the Kashimpur Women’s Central Jail in Gazipur.
The bail documents of the former speaker reached the prison on Sunday afternoon, Senior Jail Superintendent Kawalin Nahar told the media.
After verification, she was released from jail around 6:30pm, Nahar added.
Earlier in the day, a Dhaka court granted bail to Shirin Sharmin in a case filed with Lalbagh police station over an alleged attempted murder linked to the July uprising.
On 7 April, Shirin was arrested from a relative’s residence on Road 8/A at Dhanmondi in the capital and was subsequently sent to jail in connection with the case.
