The government has deferred the Independence Award giving ceremony by one week to 16 April, it said in a notification on Tuesday.
Due to unavoidable circumstances, the award giving ceremony will be held on 16 April instead of the earlier announced 9 April, said the notification issued by the Cabinet Division.
It will be held at 4pm at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital.
Khaleda Zia, late prime minister and former BNP chief, will get the award posthumously for her contributions to the struggle for democracy and women empowerment. Fourteen other individuals and five organisations will also receive the award.
