Prime Minister Tarique Rahman exchanged Eid-ul-Fitr greetings with citizens from all walks of life, including diplomats, scholars, and prominent figures, at the state guest house Jamuna on Saturday morning.
The Prime Minister was joined by his wife Dr Zubaida Rahman and daughter Zaima Rahman during the event.
Devotees and well-wishers began arriving at Jamuna well before the scheduled time to meet the Prime Minister.
Earlier in the morning, both President Mohammad Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman attended the main Eid congregation at the National Eidgah in front of the High Court.
After offering prayers, they exchanged greetings with attendees. Following the congregation, at around 10:00am, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman arrived at Jamuna for the official Eid greeting ceremony.
At Jamuna, he first met with diplomats and subsequently exchanged greetings with cabinet members, members of parliament, distinguished citizens, academics, religious leaders, artists, writers, and senior officials from government and private sectors.
The gathering reflected the diversity of the nation, bringing together representatives from all segments of society.
After the Eid greeting ceremony, the Prime Minister, accompanied by his family, is scheduled to visit the graves of late President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.
This marks Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s first Eid celebration in Bangladesh after over 17 years abroad, having previously observed the festival in London.
