Teenager’s throat-slit body found in Sylhet

The throat-slit body of a teenager was recovered from a poultry farm at Goainghat upazila in Sylhet on Thursday night.
The deceased Suman Miah, 17, who was a carpenter by profession, was son of Anwar Miah of Tritiya Khanda village at Fatehpur union under Goainghat upazila, police said.
Local union parishad chairman Minhaj Uddin said that the poultry farm owner Mostaq Ahmed of the same Tritiya Khanda village informed him over mobile phone at around 10:00pm that the villagers found a throat-slit body, the face of which is tied up with a piece of cloth, at his farm after the Tarawi namaz.
‘Later, I informed the Goainghat police station over the incident,’ he said.
Goainghat police station officer-in-charge Md Moniruzzaman said that they rushed to the spot and recovered the victim’s body, which was identified by his family members.
‘The body was sent to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem examination on Friday early morning,’ he said.
The police officer said in the afternoon that they were trying to identify the killers and motive behind the murder.
‘Further legal steps would be taken after receiving a written complaint from his family in this regard,’ he said.
