The Election Commission published the gazette of 297 newly-elected members of parliament on Friday night following the 13th national parliamentary election.
Authorities held voting on Thursday from 7:30am to 4:30pm at 42,779 polling centres nationwide. Voters also took part in a nationwide referendum on the same day.
Election Commission officials said a record number of political parties contested the polls. A total of 51 parties, including the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, Jamaat-e-Islami and the Jatiya Nagorik Party, fielded candidates.
The election featured 2,029 candidates, including 1,755 from political parties and 274 independents. Women accounted for 80 candidates. The commission allocated 119 electoral symbols for the contest.
The parliament secretariat has started preparations for the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected lawmakers. Officials prioritised protocol, security and essential services to ensure the smooth conduct of the oath-taking ceremony, which marks a key political moment after the election.
