CA urges participation in referendum to build new Bangladesh

Chief Adviser of the interim government Prof Dr Muhammad Yunus cast his vote at 10:25am on Thursday at Gulshan Model School and College polling centre in the capital.
Speaking to the nation after voting, he said the country had embarked on a historic journey through the current process, creating an opportunity to build a “new Bangladesh”.
He described the day as highly significant for the nation and called on citizens to celebrate it.
“From today, we have gained the opportunity to create a new Bangladesh at every step. Let us celebrate this as a birthday, a day-long national celebration where we come together as one nation,” he said.
Prof Yunus emphasized that while voting for candidates is important, the referendum is particularly crucial. According to him, the referendum has the potential to transform the entire country. He called on all citizens to actively participate in the referendum to help build a renewed Bangladesh.
Expressing deep emotion, he described the day as one of great joy and significance. “This is a great day in my life and a great day for all of Bangladesh — a day of liberation. It marks the end of our nightmare and the beginning of a new chapter through this process,” he said.
Concluding his remarks, he extended his thanks and congratulations to everyone, saying, “Eid Mubarak, Eid Mubarak, Mubarak.”
In his statement, Prof Yunus portrayed the day as a historic turning point, expressing hope that the referendum would usher in meaningful change and a new future for the nation.
