Shooting of the film “Pritilata”, based on revolutionary freedom fighter Pritilata Waddedar, is set to resume in the new year, director Rashid Polash has said.
Two films on Pritilata began production in 2020. In Pradip Ghosh’s “Bir Konnya Pritilata”, the role was played by Nusrat Imrose Tisha, and the film was released in 2023. However, Rashid Polash’s “Pritilata”, starring Porimoni in the titular role, has remained stalled since then.
On Sunday, Rashid Polash shared a photo with Pori Moni on social media, writing, “This time ‘Pritilata’ will also be completed, Insha’Allah 2026.” In the comments, Porimoni responded, “I’m ready too.” The exchange indicated that, following the resolution of previous complications, Pori Moni is set to return to the role and face the camera again in the new year.
Speaking to the media, Rashid Polash said he had been planning for some time to complete the remaining portion of the film. “If everything goes as planned, we will go into shooting in April next year,” he said.
The film’s first look was released in 2021, with Porimoni’s appearance as Pritilata drawing considerable attention. Interest in the project grew at the time, but shooting could not be completed due to several factors, including the actress’s maternity break. Although there were multiple reports over the years about production resuming, filming did not restart.
Rashid Polash said he now aims to complete the unfinished work in the new year. According to the director, shooting is planned to be wrapped up in April, after which editing and post-production will begin. The screenplay and dialogues have been written by Golam Rabbani.
“We started shooting towards the end of 2020, and about 30 percent of the work was completed at that time,” the director said. “The Dhaka portions are already done. The remaining Chattogram segments will be shot next. We are hopeful of opening the camera again in April, after Eid-ul-Fitr.”
