Zubayer Rahman takes oath as CJ

Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury took oath on Sunday as the 26th Chief Justice of Bangladesh.
President Mohammed Shahabuddin administered the oath at his official residence Bangabhaban at 10:30AM, where Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus, among others, were present.
Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar aired live the event.
On 23 December last, Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court was appointed as the country’s 26th Chief Justice.
The President, by virtue of the powers conferred by Article 95(1) of the Constitution, appointed Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury of the Appellate Division as the Chief Justice of Bangladesh.
Zubayer Rahman was enrolled in the District Judge Court in 1985 and as an advocate of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court in 1987.
On Saturday, Chief Justice Dr Syed Refaat Ahmed retired from his post.
