EC to announce polls schedule this week, extends voting time by 1hr

The Election Commission (EC) will announce the schedule for the 13th National Parliamentary Election within this week, while also extending the voting period by one hour.
Election Commissioner Brigadier General (Retd.) Abul Fazl Md. Sanaullah provided the information on Sunday after a meeting at EC Secretariat in the capital.
“We will announce the election schedule on any day within this week,” Sanaullah told reporters.
Clarifying the timeline, he added that the Chief Election Commissioner had earlier mentioned that the schedule would be announced in the second week of December.
“The week from December 8 to December 15 falls within that window and the announcement will be made on any day during this period,” he said.
According to the EC’s decision, voting in the 13th parliamentary election will now begin at 7:30 AM and continue until 4:30 PM; an extension of one hour compared to previous elections.
Sanaullah noted that this marks an important step in the preparation for the country’s major electoral event.
He also affirmed that the EC is taking all necessary measures to ensure the election is conducted smoothly and successfully.
