Joy-Putul jailed for 5 years in Purbachal plot scam case

Sajeeb Wazed Joy and Saima Wazed Putul, children of deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina, have been jailed for five-year each in a case lodged over alleged irregularities in allocating a 10-katha plot in RAJUK New Town Project in Purbachol.
Joy, former information and communication technology adviser to her mother, was also fined Tk 1 lakh in this case.
Judge Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun of the Special Judge’s Court-5 of Dhaka pronounced the judgement around 11:45AM on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Hasina, mother of joy and Putul, was jailed for total 21 years in the three plot scam cases.
The verdict was announced in absence of the three convicts as they were fugitive.
