Kylian Mbappe and PSG clash over €703 million in French labour court

The long-running dispute between Kylian Mbappe and his former club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) reached the French labour court on Monday, with both sides presenting financial claims that total over €700 million.
Mbappe, now 26 and playing for Real Madrid, is claiming €263 million from PSG, while the club is demanding he pay them €440 million.
PSG’s claim partly stems from a failed €300 million transfer to Saudi club Al Hilal in June 2023, which Mbappe refused. The club also cites lost transfer revenue, damage to its image, and alleged breach of an agreement made after Mbappe rejected the Saudi move.
Mbappe, who did not attend the hearing, is represented by four lawyers. He denies having agreed to waive any payments and initially filed a complaint in June 2024 over how PSG treated him at the start of the 2023-24 season. He alleges he was sidelined by the Qatari-owned club, forced to train with players being offloaded, and excluded from PSG’s 2023 pre-season tour of Asia—a move criticized by the French players’ union.
The striker also claims PSG misapplied the French legal classification of his contract. During his seven seasons at PSG, Mbappe scored 256 goals in 308 appearances but left on a free transfer for Real Madrid, where he reportedly earns €30 million annually.
The French labour tribunal is expected to take several weeks before delivering a decision, with a ruling anticipated on December 16, 2025.
