Singapore interested in closer cooperation with Bangladesh

Singapore’s Foreign Minister Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan has expressed his country’s interest in working closely with Bangladesh as it enters a new phase of political and economic development.
Speaking after a meeting with Special Envoy on International Affairs to Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser, Lutfey Siddiqi, Dr. Balakrishnan said, “With a young and hardworking population, Bangladesh has immense potential.”
He noted that Bangladesh is implementing reforms, diversifying its economy, and seeking investments in areas including renewable energy, digital innovation, and connectivity.
Describing the meeting as “productive,” the Singaporean minister highlighted discussions on the contributions of the Bangladeshi community in Singapore and explored avenues to strengthen bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, climate change mitigation, and port management.
