The Bangladesh U-20 women’s football team arrived home early Tuesday at 1:30 am after successfully completing their AFC Women’s U-20 Asian Cup qualifying campaign in Laos.
The team made history by securing their first-ever spot in the final round of the tournament, set to be held in Thailand next year. Bangladesh qualified as one of the three best runners-up among 32 teams across eight groups, joining the hosts in the 12-team final competition.
In Group H, Bangladesh began their campaign with back-to-back wins—defeating hosts Laos 3-1 and crushing Timor-Leste 8-0. Despite a heavy 6-1 loss to group winners and two-time champions South Korea in their final match, Bangladesh’s earlier performances were enough to secure qualification.
This achievement follows another major milestone for women’s football in the country, as the senior national team has already qualified for the 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup in Australia.
