Actor Siddiq faces 10-day remand request in attempted murder case

Police have requested a 10-day remand for actor Siddiqur Rahman Siddiq in connection with an attempted murder case involving rickshaw-puller Jabbar Ali Hawlader, linked to the anti-discrimination student movement in Dhaka’s Gulshan area.
On Wednesday (April 30), Sub-Inspector Abdus Salam, the investigating officer of Gulshan Police Station, submitted the remand plea to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Dhaka. A hearing on the remand request is scheduled to take place at the court.
Earlier, on Tuesday (April 29), some youths intercepted Siddiq while he was passing through Bailey Road. He was initially taken to Ramna Police Station and later transferred to Gulshan Police Station.
According to the case details, on July 19 last year, during an anti-discrimination protest, shots were fired at demonstrators in front of Confidence Tower in Shahjadpur, Gulshan. Jabbar Ali Hawlader was injured by gunfire during the incident.
In response, Jabbar Ali filed a case with Gulshan Police Station, naming 109 individuals including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
