PM honours more than 100 teachers on World Teachers’ Day

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman honoured more than 100 distinguished teachers on the occasion of World Teachers’ Day on Monday.
He handed over the honours at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium around noon. Each recipient received Tk 200,000 and a crest in recognition of their contributions to education.
Education Minister and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Haque Milan chaired the ceremony.
Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education Chairman Md Selim Bhuiyan, MP, Education and Primary and Mass Education Adviser and Prime Minister’s Office spokesperson Mahdi Amin, and State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj were also present.
This year, the honours are being awarded to teachers across different levels and fields of education: 10 at the primary level, 20 at the secondary level, 25 at the college level, 20 at general universities, 10 in medical education, three in agricultural universities, three in engineering universities, four in science and technology and other specialised universities, and six teachers selected by the prime minister.
Of the 10 primary-level recipients, eight are from general educational institutions and two from madrasas.
Among the 20 secondary-level honourees, 10 are from general secondary education, five from technical education and five from madrasas.
At the college level, 15 teachers from general education, five from technical education and five from madrasas are being honoured.
The 20 recipients from general universities include 18 teachers from public universities and two from private universities.
In medical education, five teachers from medical colleges and five from medical universities are receiving the recognition. The remaining awards include three teachers from agricultural universities, three from engineering universities and four from science and technology and other specialised universities.
