Joty to step down as Bangladesh T20 captain

Bangladesh women’s cricket captain Nigar Sultana Joty has decided to step down as captain of the national T20 side after the upcoming Asian Games.
Joty formally informed the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) of her decision on Tuesday (September 15), according to a BCB director. The development comes shortly after Bangladesh’s campaign in the Women’s Asia Cup ended in the semi-finals.
However, Joty will continue to lead Bangladesh in the ODI format.
The 29-year-old wicketkeeper-batter has been a key figure in Bangladesh women’s cricket and has led the side across formats for several years. Her decision to relinquish the T20 captaincy will now leave the BCB with the task of selecting a new leader for the shortest format.
The Asian Games, scheduled to begin this week in Japan, will therefore mark Joty’s final assignment as Bangladesh’s T20 captain.
