Prez praises BGB’s role in border security

President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir urged the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) to take more effective measures to prevent smuggling, drug trafficking, illegal entry, and border killings.
The President made the call on Monday (August 31) afternoon when BGB Director General Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui paid a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban.
During the meeting, the BGB chief extended his heartiest congratulations to the President on assuming office. He briefed the President on the overall activities of the force, including plans to integrate advanced drones and modern technology to enhance border surveillance.
The President highlighted that BGB plays a crucial role as a vigilant guardian in preventing smuggling, drug cartels, and human trafficking along the border. He also commended the initiatives taken to incorporate modern technology into border security operations.
President Alamgir assured the force of full support from the government in strengthening its operations.
Secretaries to the President and senior officials of Bangabhaban were present during the meeting.
