Shafiqur arrives in Japan on 7-day visit

Leader of the Opposition and Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dr Shafiqur Rahman has arrived in Japan on a seven-day official visit.
He departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 2:45am on Saturday and landed at Narita International Airport at 3:45pm local time the same day, the party said in a Facebook post.
Upon arrival, he was warmly received by leaders of the Bangladeshi community in Japan. A delegation led by Hafez Saber Ahmed, president of the Islamic Mission Japan, along with expatriate businessmen and professionals, welcomed him at the airport.
Shafiqur is accompanied by Saiful Alam Khan Milon, a member of Jamaat-e-Islami’s Central Executive Council, and Barrister Mir Ahmad bin Quasem Arman, who serves as his foreign affairs adviser.
During the visit, the opposition leader is scheduled to attend a reception organised by the Bangladeshi community, participate in various seminars, and hold courtesy meetings with high-level officials of the Japanese government.
He is expected to conclude his visit and return to Dhaka on 9 May.
