Jamaat names Shadik Kayem as DSCC mayoral candidate

Jamaat-e-Islami has announced DUCSU Vice President Shadik Kayem as its candidate for the next Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) mayoral elections.

Jamaat’s Dhaka South unit announced Shadik Kayem’s name at the unit’s conference arranged at the Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh, Kakrail Dhaka on Friday.

Leaders and activists of the unit, as well as Shadik Kayem himself were present at the event.

Jamaat will formally announce its candidates for both Dhaka South and North mayoral polls within a day or two.

According to reports, Shadik recently transferred his voting area from Khagrachhari to Dhaka, potentially to contest the next Dhaka South mayoral polls.
