Earthquake strikes near Sylhet

A 4.9-magnitude earthquake struck an area in India’s Assam province on Tuesday afternoon and the tremors were felt in Sylhet, Moulvibazar and other adjacent border districts in Bangladesh.
Some reports claimed that tremors were also felt in Dinajpur. No casualties or damages were reported in either side of the border.
The quake struck 11-kilometre northwest of Silchar, Assam’s second-largest city, and 254-kilometre away from Dhaka around 2:48pm local time on Tuesday, said the US Geological Survey (USGS).
The epicenter was 10-km below earth’s surface, USGS said.
