Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has been invited to attend the 28th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), scheduled to take place in St John’s, Antigua and Barbuda, from 1 to 4 November 2026.
Karen-Mae Hill, high commissioner of Antigua and Barbuda to the United Kingdom, handed over the invitation letter on Thursday when she paid a courtesy visit to the acting high commissioner, Nazrul Islam, at his office, according to the Bangladesh High Commission in London.
The letter came from Antigua and Barbuda Prime Minister Gaston Browne, who addressed Tarique Rahman to attend the 28th CHOGM.
During the meeting, acting high commissioner Nazrul Islam sought support for the candidacy of Khalilur Rahman, foreign minister of Bangladesh, for the presidency of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (2026–2027).
Both sides also emphasised the importance of strengthened and coordinated collaboration among Commonwealth member states to ensure a sustainable and dignified repatriation of forcibly displaced Rohingya people who fled to Bangladesh from Myanmar.
