Govt begins fulfilling promises before election ink dries: PM Tarique

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said that the government has already begun implementing the promises made to the people prior to the national election.
Speaking at the inauguration of the monthly honorarium programme for imams, muezzins, and religious leaders of various faiths at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka on Saturday, he said the government has acted promptly after being formed to implement its electoral pledges.
“By the grace of Allah, after the people elected the BNP government, we have begun to implement all our promises before the ink on the votes could even be wiped from the nails. Alhamdulillah, I offer countless thanks to Allah for this,” he added.
The Prime Minister emphasized that efforts are underway to reduce financial inequality in the country by providing financial support and employment opportunities for those who are economically disadvantaged. She stated that the government has already begun fulfilling the pledges made to the people before the national election.
He also highlighted specific initiatives:
The Family Card has already been launched for economically disadvantaged women, which will gradually cover four crore families nationwide.
A pilot project for Farmer Cards will be introduced starting Pohela Boishakh (14 April).
From 16 March, a nationwide programme for digging and maintaining canals will commence in Dinajpur.
A pilot program for financial support/honorarium for khatibs, imams, muezzins, and other religious leaders has also been initiated.
The Prime Minister underscored the government’s goal of building a strong nation by empowering every citizen politically and economically, noting that a country cannot be strong if its people remain weak. Gradual empowerment of the populace is a key focus of the administration.
He further stated that the government is working to ensure financial and social security for people of all religions, castes, and professions, using all available state resources, and that these efforts will continue into the future.
Highlighting the human dimension of development, Tarique Rahman noted that while economic prosperity brings comfort, true fulfillment in life requires patience, honesty, gratitude, respect, tolerance, generosity, and responsibility. He stressed the importance of religious, social, and moral education in cultivating these values.
The Prime Minister concluded by emphasizing that for future leaders of the country, awareness and practice of these moral and human values will be essential.
