Crackdown against listed criminals, extortionists soon after compiling list

A crackdown will be conducted across the country soon against criminals and extortionists, said Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed on Wednesday.
”We are preparing the lists of extortionists and criminals in an unbiased way from across the country starting from Dhaka.”
The minister said the drive would begin from Dhaka and gradually expand nationwide, as authorities are compiling lists of extortionists, armed individuals and listed criminal suspects.
Minister Salahuddin Ahmed made the remarks after a meeting with senior officials of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and officers in-charge (OCs) of 50 police stations under its jurisdiction at the DMP headquarters.
The Home Minister called upon police officials to carry out their duties with professionalism and integrity to ensure public safety and maintain law and order across the capital and beyond.
He said the government’s primary objective and foremost priority is to improve the law and order situation, ensure public relief and security and establish the rule of law across the country.
”To achieve this, the role of the police is paramount. We all understand that.”
