Jamaat MPs take both oaths

Despite earlier threatening to boycott the ceremony after the BNP declined to be sworn in as members of the Constitution Reform Council,Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami have taken oath as both members of the 13th parliament and the Constitution Reform Council.
Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin administered the oath at 12noon.
The newly elected members signed the oath register at 12:24pm.
Earlier in the morning, Jamaat’s Nayeb-e-Ameer Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher said to media that if the newly elected MPs of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) did not take oath as members of the Constitution Reform Council, then Jamaat’s elected MPs would not take any oath.
Meanwhile, NCP and independent MPs also took oath. Rumeen Farhana, however, left the oath chamber at 12:26PM without taking the separate pledge as a member of the Constitution Reform Council.
