Police have arrested a life-term convict who had been on the run for 15 years after killing his elder brother in Kulaura upazila of Moulvibazar district.
The arrested is identified as Md Mohsin Mia, 32, a resident of Dhamuli village under Prithimpasha union in the upazila.
Acting on a tip-off, a team led by sub-inspector (SI) Abdul Alim, along with SI Al-Amin and ASI Ariful Islam, conducted a raid and arrested Mohsin from his residence late Friday night.
Confirming the incident on Saturday morning, Kulaura Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Moniruzzaman Mollah said that the convicted fugitive had been produced before the court following his detention.
Earlier in 2010, Mohsin murdered his elder brother following a family dispute. A court later sentenced him to life imprisonment in the case.
Shortly after the killing, he fled from country and initially took refuge in Qatar before later moving to Portugal. Mohsin recently returned to Bangladesh from abroad.
