UK envoy Sarah Cooke meets Jamaat Ameer

British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cooke paid a courtesy call on Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Md Shafiqur Rahman on Sunday morning.
The meeting took place at 9:00am at the Jamaat Ameer’s office in Bashundhara area, according to a press release.
The High Commissioner was accompanied by Deputy High Commissioner James Goldman, Head of Political Timothy Duckett, and Deputy Secretary (Political) Kate Ward.
The press release said the discussion was held in a cordial and friendly atmosphere.
The meeting covered topics including the upcoming National Parliamentary Election in Bangladesh, with both sides expressing hope for strengthened development, progress, and bilateral relations between the United Kingdom and Bangladesh in the future.
Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General and head of the party’s Central Publicity and Media Department Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair, central executive council member Mobarak Hossain, and foreign affairs adviser to the Jamaat Ameer Mahmudul Hasan were also present at the meeting.
