Elderly woman killed in Moulvibazar road crash

An elderly woman was killed after being hit by a pickup van in Kamalganj upazila of Moulvibazar district on Sunday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Durjoy Shabdokar, 75, a resident of Surandpur village under Munshibazar union in the upazila.
According to sources, the accident occurred around 4:30 PM in the Thakur Bazar area on the Kamalganj–Munshibazar road when a speedy pickup van coming from the opposite direction ran her over from behind, killing her on the spot.
Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Moulvibazar General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Munshibazar Union Parishad (UP) Chairman Nahid Ahmed Tarafder confirmed the incident.
