BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has alleged that a certain political party is attempting to create division within the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).
He made the remark on Saturday morning while addressing a gathering in front of the residence of late BNP leader Barrister Aminul Haque in Godagari, Rajshahi, after offering prayers at his grave.
Introducing Major General (Retd) Sharif Uddin—who has received BNP’s primary nomination for the Rajshahi-1 (Godagari–Tanore) constituency—to local leaders and activists, Fakhrul urged them to remain united and support him.
“A certain party is trying to create division within the BNP,” he said. “They want to gain advantage from this. BNP leaders and activists must remain cautious. We cannot allow internal rivalry or division.”
He further said, “Another party is trying to come to power. But based on our past experience, they are not capable of bringing meaningful change or restoring order in the country.”
Speaking about the contributions of the late Barrister Aminul Haque, Fakhrul said, “As an MP and minister, he worked tirelessly for the people of this area. His family has long been involved in serving the community. This time, our acting chairman Tarique Rahman has nominated his brother, Sharif Sahib, for this constituency. Everyone must work together with unity for him.”
Earlier in the day, the BNP secretary general visited the grave of late party vice chairman Barrister Aminul Haque at Fazilpur Graveyard in Godagari. He was accompanied by Barrister Haque’s brother Sharif Uddin, BNP Chairperson’s adviser Mizanur Rahman Minu, former Rajshahi City Corporation mayor Mohammad Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul, and other party leaders and activists.
