Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus is set to return home on Wednesday morning, wrapping up his two-day official visit to Italy, where he attended a series of high-level meetings and events.
According to Chief Adviser’s Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder, Prof Yunus departed Rome for Dhaka at 7:20pm (Italian time) on Tuesday, concluding his engagements in the Italian capital.
The Chief Adviser had arrived in Rome on Sunday to participate in the 2025 World Food Forum (WFF) — the flagship annual event of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations.
The week-long forum, which began on October 10 and runs through October 17, is being held under the theme “Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future.” It focuses on three key pillars: Global Youth Action, Science and Innovation, and Hand-in-Hand Investment.
During his stay, Prof Yunus attended multiple bilateral meetings, including a discussion with FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu, his Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam confirmed.
The Chief Adviser also participated in the inauguration of the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty office alongside Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu at FAO headquarters in Rome.
