Bangladesh sealed the T20 series against the Netherlands with a dominant nine-wicket victory in the second match at Sylhet International Stadium on Monday.
The win gives Bangladesh an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series, thanks to the contribution of a combined commanding performance from both bowlers and batsmen.
After winning the toss and electing to field, Bangladesh’s bowlers were in top form, dismantling the Dutch batting lineup for a meagre 103 runs in just 17.3 overs.
Nasum Ahmed led the charge with three wickets, while Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed provided crucial support, each taking two wickets, as the Netherlands struggled to build any significant partnerships. Shak Mahedi and Tanzim Hasan Shakib took one wicket each.
Chasing a low target of 104 runs, Bangladesh’s opening batsmen, Parvez Hossain Emon and Tanzid Hasan Tamim, started the innings steadily, building a 40-run partnership off 33 balls.
The only wicket to fall was Emon, who was caught by wicket-keeper Scott Edwards for 23 runs off 21 balls after a thick outside edge on a short, wide delivery.
After the powerplay, Bangladesh was comfortably placed at 41 for 1. Skipper Litton Das and Tanzid Hasan Tamim then took control, forging a 64-run partnership to guide the team to victory.
Tamim was particularly impressive, scoring his sixth T20 fifty in just 39 balls, finishing unbeaten on 54 runs from 40 deliveries. Litton Das remained not out on 18 runs from 18 balls.
The Tigers reached the target in just 13.1 overs, solidifying their dominant performance and securing the series.
