European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde on Monday issued a stark warning about the potential global economic consequences if Donald Trump were to take control of U.S. monetary policy.
“If he were to succeed, it is a very serious danger for the U.S. economy and for the world economy,” Lagarde said in an interview with Radio Classique.
Her remarks come amid reports that Trump is seeking to remove a Federal Reserve governor, raising concerns over political interference in the traditionally independent U.S. central bank.
Lagarde’s comments reflect growing international unease about the prospect of a second Trump presidency and its implications for central bank independence, global financial stability, and economic governance.
