The physical condition of Gono Odhikar Parishad president Nurul Haque Nur is gradually improving, according to Brigadier General Md Asaduzzaman, director of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).
Speaking to reporters on Sunday, he said, “Nur is currently under close observation. Although his condition is showing signs of improvement, some complications still remain.”
Nur sustained serious injuries during a clash on Friday night, including fractures in his nasal and jaw bones, eye injuries, and brain hemorrhage.
“The internal bleeding in the brain is gradually subsiding with treatment, and his latest CT scan results are positive,” the DMCH director added.
Nur is receiving care from a six-member medical board, which is closely monitoring his condition.
The injuries occurred during a violent clash between activists of Gono Odhikar Parishad and the Jatiya Party near Nur’s party office. As tensions escalated, police and army personnel reportedly charged batons, injuring Nur and several others.
