Palestine’s Ambassador to Bangladesh, Yousef S.Y. Ramadan, on Monday expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people and government of Bangladesh for their enduring support amid the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
During a meeting with Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus at the State House Jamuna, Ambassador Ramadan described the dire conditions in Gaza, where civilians—particularly children—are bearing the brunt of severe shortages of food, medicine, and essential supplies.
“There is no food, no medicine. Children are the main victims,” the ambassador said, underscoring the urgency of the situation.
Ambassador Ramadan praised Bangladesh for its consistent solidarity with Palestine, both diplomatically and through public generosity. “The Government of Bangladesh has been a great support to our people. Many Bangladeshis are sending aid—money for food and medicine. Our people know this help comes from Bangladesh, and we are truly grateful,” he said.
He welcomed Bangladesh’s decision to join other Muslim nations in condemning the recent ‘Greater Israel’ map declaration by the Israeli Prime Minister, calling it a provocative move that undermines the prospects for peace and the two-state solution.
Looking ahead, the ambassador urged the Bangladeshi authorities to consider expanding trade ties by importing more Palestinian goods, which could provide vital economic relief and strengthen people-to-people solidarity.
Ambassador Ramadan also extended his support to Bangladesh’s Interim Government, wishing it success during the country’s transitional period.
In response, Dr Yunus reaffirmed Bangladesh’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause. “Our people stand with you. The government will continue to stand by Palestine,” he said.
He expressed hope that more nations would soon recognize the State of Palestine and called for renewed international efforts to realize a just and sustainable two-state solution.
The meeting highlighted the deep and principled friendship between Bangladesh and Palestine, rooted in shared commitment to justice, human dignity, and global solidarity.
