Over 45,000 polling centres planned for next polls

The upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election is expected to see a total of 45,098 polling centres across the country, with approximately 280,564 polling booths and nearly 931,131 election officials to manage the voting process.
The information was revealed in the proceedings of a recent meeting focused on preparing and supervising the training of polling officials for the election.
For comparison, 12th parliamentary election included 42,148 polling centres, 261,564 booths and catered to 11,96,89,289 registered voters.
According to the latest voter list update; expected to conclude in 2025 and include all citizens born on or before January 1, 2008, the number of eligible voters is projected to rise to around 12,78,73,752.
To accommodate the increased voter population, authorities are planning to add 2,950 new polling centres and around 19,000 additional booths.
As per previous practices, 10% more polling officials than required are included in a reserve panel and 5% more than the estimated need receive formal training.
Based on these estimates, approximately 9,31,131 polling officials will be trained for the upcoming election; reflecting a 5% increase from the base requirement of around 886,790 officials.
Election Commission is continuing its preparation to ensure a smooth and well-managed election process across the country.
